The Whitley Bay Baptist Church Football Club

A Brief History

The Whitley Bay Baptist Church Football Club (WBBCFC) was founded in 1998 with a group of teenagers who played in 5-aside teams in the Churches Together Football League www.ctfl.org.uk

Over the following years it grew slowly and steadily as players starting inviting their brothers, sisters and friends to training and more teams were entered into the league.

Some of the teams were successful – scoring lots of goals, winning leagues and promotion - others were less so, but throughout the emphasis was put on participating, playing to the best of your ability, teamwork and having fun.

By 2001 the original team were too old for the 5-aside league so WBBCFC decided to enter an 11-aside team into the adult ‘North East Christian Fellowship League’, an FA affiliated league.

The adult team still plays in this league with an annual influx of players who are forced out of the 5-aside league as they get older.

Full details, including fixtures and results, of the team can be found at the WBBCFC website.
